Dr. King has had over 25 years of experience within the National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST) and has held various positions including:
Science Advisor, Program Manager, and Research Chemist. Currently, Dr. King
serves as a Principal in the Advanced Technology Group, a consulting practice
focused on the accelerated commercialization of innovative technologies, which
often includes strategic leveraging of federal R&D funds.
Dr. King holds a PhD
in Chemical Physics and a Masters in Technology Management, both from the
University of Pennsylvania, and is a board member of an emerging nanotechnology
company with a life sciences division.

Abstract of Presentation/Publication
Federal grants are one of the best sources of capital available to fund a
biotech company at any stage in its development. Dr. King will discuss grants
available through the NIST Advanced Technology Program (ATP). This funding
program is designed to support very innovative technologies and offers some of
the largest grants available to biotech companies. Dr. King has extensive
experience in writing successful ATP proposals and will offer insights into the
makeup of a well structured grant proposal.
